1. YOUR FACE DESERVES SOME GRACE.
Let's look at what your beautiful face has been through: childhood sunburns, puberty pimples, pregnancy acne, piercings, the “social smoking” college phase you lie to your doctor about, sleeping in makeup, late nights, early mornings and for many now, dermal sandblasting, needling, repeated self-inflicted acid and laser attacks, injections of toxic botulism, and something called a 'vampire facial' which we hope is more 'sexy Y2K vampire' than Nosferatu but are afraid to ask. So let's give our skin a breather and a round of applause for still showing up to work each day. It’s been quite a journey, hasn't it?
2. BEAUTY IS AS BEAUTY DOES.
All you de-influencers out there, we feel you - you don't have to invest a bunch of time & money on skincare to be a truly beautiful creature (a hard truth to hold with so much social media pressure to always put a perfect, ring-lit face forward). But being kind to others is a scientifically proven (and free!) way to light up a room. What's also scientifically proven to make you feel good about yourself, aka beautiful? Dancing. Music. Giving your dog a hug. Spending time in nature. Laughing. Smiling. Again, all free! And clean & cruelty-free, too! Ok, still not sold on the hippie approach to beauty? Well here's another truth to consider: If you don't laugh or smile once you reach a certain age, people will assume your teeth have all gone to rot and you're having a perimenopausal mid-life crisis. Not sexy, trust us.
3. HOTEL BATHROOM MIRRORS ARE YOUR FRIEND
If you didn't know this is the obvious lie, then you're not over 30 yet and we're not sure why you're here. But we're glad you are, as we welcome the chance to impart this hard-earned wisdom to Future You: Do NOT look in a hotel bathroom mirror once you pass the age of 30ish unless you want to spend the rest of your trip panic-buying expensive infrared wrinkle reducing masks from your social feed.
